UBS has appointed Daniele Magazzini as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, in a move aimed at accelerating the bank’s AI strategy and expanding the use of data-driven technologies across its operations.

Magazzini joins from JP Morgan, where he served as Chief Analytics Officer for EMEA and the commercial and investment bank. He also previously taught as an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence at King’s College London.

At UBS, Magazzini will lead efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into business processes, enhance client services and increase employee productivity.

He will oversee the newly formed Office of the Chief AI Officer, which will govern the deployment of AI tools and maintain consistent standards across the organization.

Based in London, he will report to Group Chief Operating and Technology Officer Mike Dargan from 1 January 2026.

“AI is a top priority for UBS,” Dargan said. “I am thrilled to welcome Daniele with his expertise in integrating AI into business processes, driving measurable improvements in efficiency and delivering business benefits.”

“As CEO of AI, he will improve our use of traditional, generative and agentic AI capabilities to transform our end-to-end operations and deliver cutting-edge solutions to our customers.”

UBS has already launched more than 300 live AI use cases across its global operations, including its AI assistant “Red” and the deployment of Microsoft’s M365 Copilot.
