Hong Kong Exchandes and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has been appointed Harbert Hui, a new financial manager of the group, starting from June 9, 2025.

Behind Hui Vanessa Lau, which will remain as an operations official in HKEX after a decade oversees the financing functions on the stock exchange, including five years as Group CFO.

In his new role, HUI will supervise HKEX financial, treasury and investor relationships and will submit a report to CEO Bonnie Chan. It will also join the company’s management committee.

“I am pleased to welcome Herbert to the HKEX family,” Chan said. “His deep experience through a wide range of financial specializations from his decades’ professional life will be of great value for the organization and our colleagues.”

Before joining HKEX, HUI was a group monitor of the group at Wheelock Properties. He previously held the position of financial manager and director of executive director MTR Corporation between 2016 and 2023.

Earlier in his career, he held high positions at Morgan Stanley ASIA and HSBC Investment Banking ASIA.

Chan added that the appointment of HUI comes in a pivotal moment as it pushes HKEX forward with strategic initiatives to enhance the flexibility and vitality of its markets.

LAU will continue to lead strategy, operations and strategic projects teams, focusing on the company’s daily running and increasing the development of the HKEX platform.
